Be on Guard! We're at War!

The last note that I wrote was about the Christians need for a disciplined life. I talked about some of my struggles and the fast I am on. I want to share with you one of the scriptures that has stood out to me during this time. 1 Peter 2:11 "...abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul." Oh wow! What a reminder, that my fleshly desires, don't just affect my flesh, but also my soul! We are in a battle. Don't let whatever your flesh craves hinder you in your spiritual walk. Whether it be: food, entertainment, habits, sleep(too much or too little), etc. It may not even be something bad. But, if it's hindering you from being obedient to God, it is warring for your soul. Remember, 1 Peter 5:8 says, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he my devour."

  2. WOW! Just this morning my son was talking about this. He said that when we constantly give into the flesh, we become desensitized to the things of the Lord. Fleshly desires does affect my soul as well.
    Thanks for the wonderful reminder!

  4. I like how you are always sharing with your blog friends the things that you personally learn from the scriptures. Your blog is an encouragement as well as a "wake-up" call for me (and I mean this in a good way - smiles). Anyway, thanks for the reminder. This is something I REALLY need to work on DAILY!

  5. Amen, Sharon. I told my husband that I probably have more years behind me than I have in front of me and I want to live in the fullness of God's will. The only way to do this is to surrender my flesh in all areas of my life.
