Have you ever been going through a rough time, feeling discouraged, and Ms. Happy comes along telling you how you should be happy, because you're a christian, and everything should be wonderful and going smooth if you are serving God? By the time she leaves you feel worse than ever. Well, one day last week I was having "one of those days", and feeling very discouraged. When I opened up my email from my friend Virginia, who sends me a devotional and encouraging word every morning, she had included the words of the chorus from the song "A Shelter in the Time of Storm".
"Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, A weary land, A weary land;
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land-
A shelter in the time of storm."
I suddenly felt such a comfort come over me. These words brought to my remembrance that, yes, we do live in a weary, fallen world. But! Jesus is always there for us. He is our Rock. He said He would never leave us. He is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. No matter what we are going through, He is always there. Things will not always be the way we want them, but He is always there.Verses:
1.The Lord's our Rock, in Him we hide, A shelter in the time of storm; Secure whatever ill betide, A shelter in the time of storm.
2.A shade by day, defense by night, A shelter in the time of storm; No fears alarm, no foes afright, A shelter in the time of storm.
3. The raging storms may round us beat, A shelter in the time of storm; We'll never leave our safe retreat, A shelter in the time of storm.
4. O Rock divine, O Refuge dear, A shelter in the time of storm; Be Thou our helper ever near, A shelter in the time of storm.
LOVE IT!!

Thanks for the insightful thoughts referencing the Charlesworth/Sankey gospel song, "A Shelter in the Time of Storm." The words of the refrain refer to Isaiah 32:1-2, a prophecy of the coming reign of Christ. And the song writer testifies that "Jesus is a Rock in a weary [parched, exhausting] land." Be encouraged, and God bless.
