Are You Judging God?

To judge someone means that you look at all the things that you know about that person, and you form an opinion of them. Hebrews 11:11 says "Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised." No doubt, Sara looked at all the things she knew to be true about God, all the things He had done in the past, and she determined that He was faithful. She had never seen any inconsistencies in His past. He had always kept His promises, so she knew this time would not be any different. When God promised her that she would have a child, even though she was past the season of her life to have children, her faith in God strengthened her to act on His promise. Has God promised you something that seems impossible? Are you judging Him? How are judging Him? Are you judging Him faithful? Are you acting like it? Let your faith in Him, give you the strength to live out, what you know to be true of our God!

  1. You are quite a deep thinker!

I'm reading Exodus and just this morning I started complaining to the LORD. Immediately, I saw that I was acting like the Israelites.

I am discovering that there is so much about God that I have never heard. Going to a church of the same denom my whole life has encouraged me to put God in some sort of denominational box. I'm tired of that.

I am thankful for how God changes me.

  3. I just recently finished reading the book Deuteronomy. Throughout the entire book, Moses is telling the Israelites how they are to conduct themselves via God's Commandments when they enter the promised land. However, before Moses dies, God already knows they are going to disown Him and "play the harlot" because He foresees in their hearts that they are a stiff-necked people who do not want to follow God's ways.

This was a wake-up call to me. God saw the hearts of the Israelites before they went into the promised land, and therefore, He can see our hearts as well. God saw in advance how the Israelites had "judged" Him, and it wasn't for the positive.

The book of Deuteronomy as well as this post reminds me that we can't fool God. He knows if we truly want to follow His Commandments and place our entire faith in His words. Sarah did when God promised her a child. Will we be like her, or like the Israelites? This should humble us greatly. I know it humbles me.

  4. Exodus 16:2 The whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.

Exodus 16:8 ... the LORD hears your grumblings which you grumble against Him...

Ok, I'm just gonna put it to you straight. If you can't handle it, skip the next paragraph!

I'm tired of living in my in-laws basement! I'm tired of serving at a church where many, who were once on fire, are growing complacent. (that's putting it nicely) (I'll be honest, my list is actually longer than that!) This morning, I was thinking in my head: I feel like God has moved us into this mess and just left us here. Immediately I thought: Boy, I sound just like the Israelites! Yikes, I'm grumbling against the LORD! REPENT!

Reminder, I am His creation and I am here for HIS pleasure! Rev. 4:11

  5. How much I love and need this reminder!

Often I cannot see what God is doing, but I have to give up my questions and remember that His thoughts and ways are higher than my thoughts and ways. He has my best interest in mind, even though what I see hurts me. I remind myself that I must not lean to my own understanding.
