Are You Carrying Your Load or Someone Elses?

Do you ever feel like your load is too heavy to carry? Do you pray and pray and it seems like the answer is nowhere in site? I've been there. There was a time when my husband was not serving the Lord, he had quit going to church with me, and the burden seemed too big to bear. I was always crying and praying for God to change my husbands heart. Going to church was very difficult at times for I had never imagined myself in this situation before and when I would sit in church and see all the happy couples and families around me worshipping God together it would often bring me to tears. One day when I was praying for my husband, the Lord gave me the scripture "Bear ye one anothers burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2. I then looked around the church and found two other women, who also came to church alone, whose husbands were not serving God. I began to pray for their husbands instead of just praying for mine all the time. Within a years time both of their husbands came to know the Lord. Eventually, mine also recommitted his life to God. Do we love our brothers and sisters in the Lord enough (the law of Christ) to carry their burden like it is our own. As I was recently faced with a huge financial mountain this scripture came to me. I thought about a family that I know who is having it very, very hard financially. To be honest, it is harder to pray with as much concern and fervency for them as it is to pray for my own need. But, with the help of God, I will continue to help bear their burden. In our intercessory prayer meeting last week, the leader talked about how as intercessors we are to stand in the gap for others. We are not interceding for ourselves, we are interceding to God for others. But, when we intercede for others, God meets our needs. So, if you are carrying a burden today, lay it down and pick up someone elses, and watch God help carry yours.

  3. That was such an encouraging post, and so honest too. What a good reminder for all of us. As I was reading your post, this verse also popped into my head..."The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (sorry I forget where it's found).
    Thanks for sharing!
